About Me

I’m Dr Amin Haghighatbin, a chemist with a passion for electrochemistry. My academic journey began with an MSc focusing on modified electrodes for fuel cells and battery systems. I later completed my PhD at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, where I explored inorganic luminescent materials and portable electrochemical sensing technologies. I then continued at La Trobe as a postdoctoral researcher, developing advanced electrochemical sensors for bioanalytical applications.

Keen to broaden my research, I was awarded the prestigious President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which led me to the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). There, I worked on the design and fabrication of electrochemical sensors and innovative microfluidic platforms, with a particular focus on cardiac biomarker analysis in the context of cardiovascular disease. And yes, I do speak a little Mandarin.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I shifted my research towards the development of immunoassays and aptasensors for early SARS-CoV-2 detection. My expertise encompasses the engineering of immunoassays, enzymatic and aptamer-based electrochemical sensors, as well as the design of analogue circuitries for wearable and handheld electrochemical devices.

In summary, I’m an electrochemist committed to developing innovative sensing technologies that contribute to a cleaner, healthier world—one sensor at a time.

Within the wondrous world of electrochemistry and electroanalytical chemistry, I'm thrilled to offer my advisory services to organisations, startups, and research teams seeking practical, innovative solutions in:

  • Electrochemical biosensor design (aptamer-based, immuno, enzymatic)

  • Potentiostatic and low-noise analogue front-end (AFE) circuitry

  • Battery and fuel-cell materials analysis

  • Environmental monitoring and diagnostic device development

Picture me as your trusty science sidekick, here to help you wield the power of science and technology for the greater good.

Whether you're knee-deep in an eco-friendly campaign or embarking on a citizen science adventure, I'm here to lend a hand (and maybe a few clever puns). Together, we'll spark positive change and light up the world with innovation and knowledge. Let's electrify our planet with science!
